Can a divorced mom start a new life in Costa Rica?

I was hit with a whopper that my husband of 11 years wanted a divorce. I have no money or job and he told me that my best bet would be to take my half of the sale of business we are selling and start over there in Costa Rica. All his family loves me and is from there. Please someone with experience tell me if I could live ok on $50k until I got my feet on the ground and could find a bi-lingual job(I speak spanish very well but 2 kids dont like the langauge) what could I rent for around the capitol for a decent apartment with pool(yes need pool)...I am still in shock and I feel like the rug has been pulled from underneath me. I currently live in New Jersey and could never afford anything here on my own. Help!!
