Can I get an item from ebay.com (U.S.) to be delivered in India?

Hi Friends, I want to buy a camera kit (which inclusive of all the items would weigh around 2+ Kgs, just a wild guess). The price of the camera kit is $1400, but of course, in India it would be way too much. India is not listed as the countries they ship to. Of course, I would post a question to the seller, but would like your opinion as well. Would there be any customs charge? Presuming it's 2.5 Kgs, how much would it cost in shipping? Because, I may ask a friend in U.S. to buy and courier it. I am way confused. I guess you got the idea. Please suggest.
